Central Otago

Amidst the mountainous terrain of Central Otago, the world's southernmost wine producing region, it's Pinot Noir that takes the helm. Benefiting from sharp extremities of temperature, as well as heavily mineral soils, a variety of stunning expressions of the grape are crafted here. It's a reputation which is expected only to increase further in coming years, as the region and its vines mature - despite the quality of its wines, winemaking traditions here only date back to the 1970s. The unique and harsh climate also lends itself well to the production of some excellent Chardonnays, Rieslings and Sauvignon Blancs.
