Key Flavours
Serve
With warming with notes of caramel, vanilla and honey on the palate, Wild Turkey 101 is best served neat or with a splash of water.
Process
The American oak casks are charred to the highest level - #4 char. They are so heavily charred; it’s been said that it resembles an alligator hide. It’s this level of charring which gives the whisky its signature amber colour and bold flavour.
People
Jimmy Russell has been Master Distiller at Wild Turkey for over an incredible 60 years. Having worked his way up the company his son Eddie Russell in 2015 was appointed Master Distiller sharing the title alongside his father.
Place
Based in Lawrenceburg, Kentucky, it’s said the whisky got its name from samples which were taken on a wild turkey hunting trip by an executive. The bourbon proved so popular among his friends they continued to ask him for "that wild turkey bourbon”.
