A glorious wine that comes from a sun trap with well-drained soil, bringing about incredible concentration and ripeness. It offers up an intense bouquet of clementine oil, ripe peach, honey and clotted cream, leading to complex nuances of toast, mushroom, pipe tobacco and green leaves. Despite being a dry wine, its intensity and complexity are reminiscent of Sauternes. On the palate, it is much more delicate in texture than the rich aromas suggest, with a flawless, crystalline character and hints of muscat grapes and wet stones. Fantastically persistent flavours on the finish. Great now, and could age another 15-20 years.

" From his most beautiful site somewhere between Rüdesheim and heaven Josi Leitz's Grosses Gewächs 2019 Rüdesheimer Berg Kaisersteinfels Riesling trocken GG is super clear, precise and crystalline on the intense and elegant nose where concentrated citrus fruit intertwines with notes of crushed stones and iron-rich quartzite. Full-bodied and round yet refined and elegant, this is an elegant, balanced and tensioned dry Riesling from a terraced vineyard at 300 meters in altitude. The finish is so enormously salty, finessed and long, making the Berg Kaisersteinfels the finest of Leitz's 2019 Rieslings. 12.5% stated alcohol. Natural cork. Tasted in June 2022. "
Winemaking
Only free-run and first-pressing juice is used, fermented in old oak barrels and left to age on the lees for 21 months.
