The colour is brilliant and deep, the nose intense with aromas of brambly black fruit, espresso, spice and sweet pepper. Robust and dense on the palate, super-velvety tannins, fine oak nuance and positively bouncing with blackcurrant fruit. A hugely impressive wine that benefits from the grapes being dried, hand-picked at harvest and grown at high altitude. Inspired by the drying process used to make Amarone, you will not find an Amarone of this quality for anywhere near this price.

Falernia Carminere Gran Reserva.
I have been a fan of this wine for many years. My preference is for a deep, smooth full bodied red and this wine hits the spot. From Chile, it is wonderfully fragrant and has a long lasting depth of flavour that lingers. Great with food, or smooth enough to savour on its own. Over the years, I have tried a number of vintages from this vineyard, and whilst it is correct to say that some are marginally better than others, each one is a masterpiece. A great favourite at dinner parties, I have yet to hear from any of my friends that this wine is not a winner.
