On the nose, the mint and thyme are clear, while juniper lies beneath. To taste, Moscato grapes have an apple-like fruity quality. Quite sweet overall (for a dry gin). Garnish with a sprig of rosemary in a G&T.
Process
Muscato Grapes undergo three distillations and during the final distillation the spirit is infused with Tuscan juniper berries and other botanicals in the distillery’s newly refurbished Frilli copper pot still. (To a multishot, London Dry process).
People
Villa Ascenti Gin's Master Distiller, Lorenzo Rosso trained as winemaker and distiller. He was born and bred in the Piemonte region and has over 20 years’ experience working with Diageo (who own of the distillery).
Place
Diageo's £360,000 beautiful distillery has been built on the site of the brand's home, Villa Ascenti, in Santa Vittoria. Steeped in Italian provenance, it celebrates the excellence of the region in local ingredients and expertise.
