The late harvest (vendange tardive) version of Trimbach's Gewürztraminer intensifies the characteristics of this naturally flamboyant variety. Oodles of lychee, baked peach, rose petal, canteloupe and honey greet the nose, while the unctuous palate is seasoned with spicy and herbal notes. Only in the finest vintages are grapes sourced from Grand Cru Osterberg in Ribeauville and very old vines planted at the Muelforst site in Hunawihr to make this wine. The well-drained vineyards, facing south, have a surface coating of clay over a deep limestone base, excellent for growing Gewurztraminer. The yield is a mere 25 hectolitres per hectare.

This wine is made from botrytised noble Gewurztraminer, hand-selected and from the best vineyards. It is made in only exceptional years and has natural residual sugar (over 80g) which harmonises perfectly with the fresh and acidic character.
Press Review
94/100 - There are such spicy aromas here with a wealth of peaches and pears as well. The palate has a sleek, plush and attractively fresh feel with a fine, elegant finish and a very smooth, sweetly fruited core.
