Process
The Kraken is a dark spiced rum based on rums distilled from molasses at the Angostura Distillery (in Trinidad) that have been aged between one and two years. This is then blended with spices, including cinnamon, ginger and cloves and sweetened.
People
Kraken is owned by US based company Proximo Spirits, and once the rums are sourced, produced by MPG who are headquartered in Atchison, Kansas (theirs also a historic facility in Lawrenceburg, Indiana).
Place
According to the Norse sagas, the kraken dwells off the coasts of Norway and Greenland and terrorizes nearby sailors. It is thought to have originated from sightings of giant squids that grow to 13–15 meters in length.
