Key Flavours
Serve
The Botanist has a floral nose with a distinct sweet juniper hit. To taste herbs, barks and fruits emerge alongside juniper. Add some lemon thyme or wild herbs from the garden in a G&T.
Process
The core botanicals are loaded into their unique Lomond still, affectionately nicknamed Ugly Betty, steeped for 12 hours before she is heated up. It takes a full day to distil, but at over 11 thousand litres at a time, it's a big batch!
People
Founded in 1881 by the Harvey brothers, The Botanist is made by Bruichladdich Distillery, the first whisky and gin distillery in Europe to meet the strict criteria of social and environmental governance to achieve B Corp status.
Place
This first Islay made gin is a rare expression of the heart and soul of this remote Scottish island. The foraged botanicals bring a sense of place and try to bring the idea of Terroir into gin.
