Initially matured in traditional American oak for 14 years, it is finished in ex-Caribbean rum casks. The fabulous result is a well-rounded whisky with notes of toffee, fruit and vanilla.

Process
To create this expression, Malt Master David C. Stewart MBE filled American oak casks with his own blend of select West Indian rums. When he believed the casks to be ready, the rum was then replaced with the 14 year old spirit.
People
The iconic David C. Stewart MBE started his career at the distillery in 1962 as a whisky stocks clerk, he became Malt Master in 1974. He's renowned for his ground breaking work, notably around ‘cask finishes’ and multiple award winning whiskies.
Place
The Balvenie distillery has been handcrafting whisky in Speyside since 1892. It’s the only distillery in Scotland that still grows its own barley, uses traditional floor maltings and keeps both a coppersmith plus team of coopers on site.
