Process
Sourced from Muir of Ord, Talisker’s malted barley is lightly peated which contributes hints of smokiness to the whisky’s flavour profile. For nearly two centuries, soft water from Hawk Hill is used to mash the barley.
People
In 1825, brothers Hugh and Kenneth MacAskill arrived on the island of Skye from the smaller island of Eigg. They leased Talisker House, which five years later was converted and became Talisker distillery.
Place
Talisker distillery is located on the shores of Loch Harport. Sitting amongst the Inner Hebridean Scottish Isles, the island of Skye is rugged, windswept, a place of extremes. Talisker captures the spirit of its island home perfectly.
