From vineyards planted over schist bedrock, Solos de Xisto evokes a fresh, dewy summer morning, with sunshiny notes of lemongrass, jasmine blossom and honeysuckle. It has beautiful purity on the palate, fresh and delicate texture and a superb, sustained, aromatic finish. This is very Vinho Verde in style, but one of the most ambitious examples of its type. Schist is a metamorphic rock which fractures easily, allowing the vine roots to penetrate deep into the ground, ensuring a steady supply of water. Its dark colour means it absorbs the sun's heat and re-radiates it at night, giving a 'double-ripening' effect.

Winemaking
The harvest is carefully selected and cooled by hand to maintain their aromatic integrity. A limited yield of 2kg per plant ensures a rich expression of the grape characteristics. Fermentation and extended maturation occur in stainless steel vats with bâtonnage and then in the bottle for further refinement and complexity.
