Domaine Saumaize-Michelin is located in the village of Vergisson, 12 km south of Mâcon. Attention to detail is the key to this domaine's success - you are unlikely to see better kept vineyards or a tidier cellar anywhere in France! The "Ampélopsis", the estate's flagship wine, was listed amongst the top ten white wines of France by the highly influential "Revue du Vin de France" and is reminiscent of a Grand Cru White Burgundy from the Côte d'Or.

Winemaking
The grapes are gently pressed in a pneumatic press. After letting the wines settle all the juice is placed in barriques where it undergoes alcoholic and malolactic fermentation. The lees are stirred regularly (batonnage) which adds to the overall complexity of the finished wine. The wine spends 8 to 11 months in barriques depending on the vintage.
