Winemaking
The winemaking is undeniably French in its inspiration, with higher fermentation temperatures to maximise extraction, and exclusive use of French oak barriques in which the wine is aged for 20 months. The wine combines the unique spicy character of the Douro with the finesse of a Cru Classé Bordeaux – a truly sublime combination.
Our Expert Food Recommendation
Rich, earthy intense Douro reds demand a rich, earthy meat. In certain times of the year, there’s nothing better than local caça (game meat), such as veado (venison) and javali (wild boar). The Portuguese enjoy making roasts and stews out of game mea ts. Additionally, any roasted or stewed beef (lombo de vaca assada/estufada) is a nice pairing.
