Produced from the first pressing of sugar cane juice rather than molasses - Ron Zacapa 23 Rum is a mixture of Guatemalan rums aged for between 6 and 23 years, blended via the Solera system in a mix of bourbon and sherry casks.
People
Made by Idustrias Licoreras de Guatemala, which was created at the beginning of the 20th century by Venancio, Andrés, Felipe, Jesús and Alejandro Botran, who emigrated from Spain to start a distillery business.
Place
Ron Zacapa is produced in a small town in Guatemala named Zacapaneca. Based in the highlands of Quetzaltenango, their warehouses are 2,300+ metres above sea level which has a significant effect on the maturation process.
