Viña Leyda, located just 14km from the Pacific Ocean, is one of Chile's leading cool-climate wine producers. Established in the early 2000s, Leyda has quickly earned a reputation for producing wines with exceptional freshness and minerality. Winemaker Viviana Navarrete, who has been at the helm since 2007, is renowned for her innovative approach, particularly with Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Syrah. Her work has placed Leyda at the forefront of Chile's cool-climate viticulture, pushing boundaries with single vineyard selections and careful clone experimentation.
Viña Leyda’s viticulture benefits greatly from its proximity to the Pacific, where the cooling influence of the Humboldt Current creates ideal conditions for growing crisp, mineral-driven wines. The winery’s focus on single vineyards allows them to capture the nuances of their terroir, with varied soil types playing a key role in the flavour profile of their wines. Navarrete’s use of Sancerre clones for their standout Lot 4 Sauvignon Blanc, for instance, adds elegance and a fine acidity reminiscent of the famed Loire Valley style, yet uniquely Chilean in its richness and depth.
