Serve
Fresh oranges, lemons, and pears, with a hint of salt and peat greet the nose. To taste, dried fig, spice, and a smoked malt dryness take hold.
Process
Oban ferment their malted barley for five full days and have just two small stills through which each drop passes. The whisky is a marriage of cask types (ex-bourbon and other).
People
Oban distillery is owned by Diageo. It's house style is described as having a "West Highland" flavour that falls between the dry, smoky style of the Scottish islands and the lighter, sweeter malts of the Highlands.
Place
In 1989, Oban 14 Year Old was named one of six Classic Malts representing the Western Highlands region.
