The smell of fresh honeycomb, acacia flowers, ripe quince and fresh muscatel is a treat. All of these come through to taste, with a finish that has hints of sourdough. A legendary grappa.
Process
It is made from selected pomace collected fresh and soft from Picolit Cru Grapes from Colli Orientali of Friuli. Picolit is a very rare, highly sought after spargola grape which suffers from coulure (poor flower setting).
People
The Nonino family have been distilling since 1897, when Orazio Nonino first established his premise. Over 100 years later, the 5th generation of Nonino's remain at the centre of every element of their spirits. A true distilling dynasty.
Place
The Nonino distillery has been active in Friuli, Italy for over a century. Prior to establishing roots in one location the family operated a moveable still, which was transported from vineyard to vineyard to make grappa on site.
