Golden amber with aromas of nuts and figs, the palate opens up to more walnuts and the characteristic finesse of eaux-de-vie from Grande Champagne. Martell XO is delicious sipped neat or with a splash of water.
Process
Martell first developed its 'Extra Old' in the early 1800's. It is a blend of eaux-de-vie (particularly focussed around Grand Champagne) aged between 15 and 35 years old with amounts of over 150 different eaux-de-vie used to complete the profile.
People
Martell is one of the oldest of the great Cognac houses, forged by passion and knowledge passed through the Martell family since 1715 and creating Cognacs that have been enjoyed and cherished for three centuries. It is owned by Pernod Ricard.
Place
Martell is produced exclusively at the distillery in the region of Cognac. It is eaux-de-vie from the Borderies that lend Martell Cordon Bleu its elegance, with Christophe Valtaud (only the ninth Cellar Master in 300 years) overseeing production.
