The Island Blend is a wonderfully refined, reserved, claret-style wine that combines freshness and complexity. It is made from fruit from Waiheke Island and the neighbouring Ponui island - hence the name. It has aromas of blackberry, woodsmoke, black tea and a touch of dried herbs. The medium-bodied palate is full of red berry fruits, with black olive and graphite, and a light hint of oak and pepper spice on the finish.

Our Island Blend, a Bordeaux-style wine, combines Waiheke and Ponui Islands' fruit. 2019's dry vintage yielded balanced vines. Predominantly Cabernet Franc from Ponui's Paradise vineyard, with Malbec, Merlot, and Petit Verdot from Waiheke's valleys. Handpicked, sorted, 100% destemmed, wild yeast fermentation in open vats, 35-day skin contact. Natural malolactic fermentation in spring, 18-month barrel aging, 3-month tank maturation before bottling.

Lovely pure NZ red fruit at first framing a core of rich darker fruit then a wash of cab franc with a lovely leafy vibe starts to come into the picture. Over time and ariation it changes and integrates into one complete wine but you still get hints of the delicate pure fruit within the overall rich core. Lovely wine. Moreish and special.
