Finding complexity in this wine is no challenge at all - there is an immediate bouquet of fresh flowers, peppery spice, frankincense, beeswax and black truffle. Eloquent and refined, it has lovely, easy roundness of texture, exquisite balance and overall sense of completeness. With fabulous persistence of flavour on the finish, this is drinking superbly now, and will continue to do so over the next 6-7 years. This comes from a single 'Grand Cru' (Grosses Gewächs) called Kirschgarten (= 'Cherry Garden')

" Tile red with watery raspberry rim. On the nose a little bit more pronounced in terms of oak ageing with smoky and toasted aromas. The palate shows a delightfully juicy quality before tannins begin to grip. A profound substance promises great potential. Pepper, spice and red-berry fruit still need a little time to come together. Drink 2019 - 2031. "

" The 2014 Kirschgarten Spätburgunder GG is beautifully intense and lush on the nose. This is gorgeous in its aroma of perfectly ripe and intense red fruit and discreet nougat. Intense and concentrated but fine and fresh on the palate, this is a remarkably finessed and delicate Pfalz Pinot with a serious and tensioned finish and gorgeously concentrated yet fine red fruit. A stunning wine. I have rarely tasted any better. "
