Clos Vougeot is a large vineyard (50 hectares) located between Vosne-Romanée and Chambolle-Musigny. Joseph Drouhin owns two parcels totalling just under one hectare of this mythical vineyard, both on a mild incline and facing due east. The wine's intense aromas evoke raspberry and wild cherry, becoming more complex with age: undergrowth, truffle, candied fruit. A sublime structure, with refined tannins. It is a perfect example of this ideal of elegance according to Drouhin. A remarkable balance and a lingering persistence of flavors on the palate. It is a wine that always leaves the greatest impression.

Winemaking
Hand-harvested grapes, sorted meticulously. Maceration and fermentation controlled for 2-3 weeks with indigenous yeasts. Joseph Drouhin prioritizes gentle extraction. Daily 'pigeage' and pumping over. Aged 14-18 months in French oak (20% new).
Press Review
94/100 - A wealth of wet-earth notes and an array of red and dark cherries, as well as a gently smoky edge. The palate is beautifully plush and long and delivers a very striking array of juicy, rich and sweet cherries that hold pure and fresh. Silky tannins have the final word. Great Vougeot. Try from 2022.
