People
Johnnie Walker was established by grocer John Walker who blended whisky in the early 1800’s. His son Alexander launched the first commercial blend named ‘Old Highland Whisky’ in 1867. His sons Alexander II and George took over and rebranded in 1909.
Place
Johnnie Walker originated in the Scottish town of Kilmarnock, Ayrshire. Very early on, the brand established global sales as this unique whisky blend was in the hands of ships’ captains who transported the whisky to wherever their ships would sail.
