Just gorgeous! Lovely rounded red fruit character, very easy and immediate, yet backed up by satisfying complexity and structure. Tuck right into it straight away, and enjoy over the next 2-3 years. Produced entirely from the Brunello variant of Sangiovese grapes, from Il Poggione's younger vines, this is aged for 12 months in large casks before a period of bottle aging. Although such maturation is not required by law for Rosso di Montalcino, it mellows the tannins, and gives the wine a complexity that make it a delicious 'poor man's Brunello'.

Winemaking
This Sangiovese wine, sourced from ten-year-old vineyards, mirrors Brunello di Montalcino. After hand harvesting, a portion ages for 12 months in medium-sized Allier oak barrels, while the rest matures in barriques. The final stage includes 6-9 months of bottle aging before release.
