Initial aromas of fresh toast with roasted almond and brown sugar are followed by a wave of more subtle vine fruit. To taste, its aromatic intensity is reflected in a rich mouthfeel, with an added dimension of vanilla, rounded off by a floral finish.
Process
Mostly made of Ugni Blanc grape, once pressed, fermented, and twice distilled in traditionally shaped Charentais copper stills - The distillate is then matured casks made from the nearby Limousin or Tronçais forest. A blend of these casks is used.
People
The distillery was founded by Irish Jacobite military officer Richard Hennessy in 1765. After merging with Moët et Chandon in the 70's - in 1987 it became part of the world's largest luxury brand conglomerates, Louis Vuitton Moët-Hennessy or LVMH.
Place
For over 250 years, Hennessy has been crafting one-of-a-kind cognacs in the heart of the Charente region in France. Today it is the biggest producer of Cognac and their approach to viticulture profoundly shapes the region.
