Glenfarclas is one of the very few family owned distilleries left in Scotland, where the Grant family have been making whisky in Speyside since 1865. Their 10-year-old Highland malt has a wonderful straw gold colour, is delicately light and sweet, with a floral, fruity nose and a long slightly spicy finish. Process
Matured in Oloroso sherry casks from Spain, this whisky is lovely and smooth with a vibrant straw gold colour.
People
The Glenfarclas Distillery was originally founded in 1836 by Robert Hay, a tenant farmer. In 1865, John Grant, a cattle breeder purchased the distillery from Hay. Today, George S Grant, represents the sixth generation of Grants to run the distillery.
Place
The Glenfarclas Distillery is located on the Recherlich Farm at Ballindalloch in the Speyside region of Scotland. It was one of the first distilleries in Scotland to open a dedicated visitor centre in 1973.
