Rioja Single Vineyard El Tiznado
Cuentaviñas
Press Review
97/100 - The 2021 El Tiznado is a much more concentrated, powerful wine. Based on 100% Tempranillo, it comes from incredibly old vines and was brought up in new 228-liter and 500-liter barrels. Cassis, ripe black cherries, scorched earth, savory, lead pencil, and spicy notes all define the bouquet, and it's full-bodied on the palate, with a concentrated, flawlessly balanced profile. I love its tannins, and it has remarkable purity and a great finish. Give this riveting Rioja 2-4 years and enjoy over the following two decades. Drink 2026 - 2048
Press Review
95/100 - The 2021 El Tiznado feels young, aromatic and a bit creamy, ripe and juicy, dense and full-bodied, with abundant, fine-grained and chalky tannins. It's a powerful and elegant Tempranillo from vines planted in 1923, a plot called El Hoyo in the village of San Vicente de la Sonsierra on red limestone soils at 500 meters in altitude. The destemmed grapes fermented in small oak vats for 21 days, followed by malolactic and élevage in 228-liter French oak barrels for 18 months. 1,186 bottles produced. It was bottled in June 2023. Drink 2025 - 2034.
