This Barolo comes from the famous cru of the same name in Monteforte, an historic vineyard that is considered one of the very finest. The wine displays fabulous fruit concentration: complex, savoury, herbal, gamey, woody attributes are present, but in the background, behind deliciously appealing fresh red cherry, dried cherry, cranberry, sage, iron, elderberry, new oak and aniseed character. Massively rich and weighty in the mouth, with black cherry, liquorice, thyme and roasted red pepper flavours. It deserves cellaring to reach its full potential, but one sip and frankly you feel like sneaking off with the bottle now and spending a few hours alone with it. Phenomenally good!

Winemaking
Select Nebbiolo cru from southerly exposed vines on Ginestra’s marly, calcareous terrain, conducive to remarkable structure and cellar life. The vineyard is at 300 metres above sea level, guyot-trained, with a density of 2,000 vines per acre. Temperature-controlled fermentation at 28°C lasts 12 to 13 days, after which the wine is aged in oak for approximately 18 to 20 months, prior to a further one and a half year in the bottle.
