Key Flavours
Serve
It is not overly sweet for a liqueur and all the component parts are on display - black raspberries, vanilla, citrus peels, honey and of course, the rich cognac. A fantastically complex liqueur that's delicious in cocktails or when topped with fizz.
Process
Raspberries and blackberries are steeped in spirit for several weeks. This process is repeated a second time after which the fruit is pressed. The two infused spirits & the pressed juice are combined and blended with cognac, honey, herbs and spices.
People
Founded in 1982 but inspired by a liqueur made in the late 1600s, said to have been introduced to Louis XIV during one of his visits to the château de Chambord. It has been owned and produced by the Brown-Forman Corporation since 2006.
Place
Chambord is made in Cheverny, a commune in the French department of Loir-et-Chethe. It's spiritual home - The Château - is one of the most recognisable châteaux in the world because of its very distinctive French Renaissance architecture.
