Process
The Mezcal is made using the traditional method. Piñas are cooked for 4–6 days in earthen pits. They are crushed one ton at a time by a horse-drawn tahona wheel, fermented for several days before being twice distilled in copper stills.
People
Casamigos was launched by long-time friends George Clooney, Rande Gerber and Mike Meldman who sought to make the perfect Tequila and Mezcal for them. Diageo snapped it up but Hollywood star Clooney remains an active part of the brand.
Place
Casamigos Mezcal Joven is produced on behalf of the brand by a 4th generation family of Mezcaleros. They are based in the south-west of Mexico in Santiago Matatlán, Oaxaca, a region also know as the “World Capital Of Mezcal”.
