Brancaia Chianti Classico Gran Selezione is savoury and complex, and gives the impression of being a mellow, matured wine, even while relatively young. It is fine and rounded in texture, with deep, woodsy flavours and beautiful balance. It could easily age for decades...however it is absolutely ready to enjoy straight away (give it an hour in a decanter to appreciate it at its best). This is a 100% Sangiovese, selected from a single vineyard site. The wine is not necessarily made every vintage, and the specific site may vary - the criteria are that this has to be the best-performing plot in a given year, from only the best years.

Winemaking
Grapes are received at the winery and, if necessary, selected at the sorting table. By gravity, they fall into conical-shaped temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. Wild yeasts only. Cap is punched down with a "follatore".

The 2020 Chianti Classico Gran Selezione is enriched and fleshed out with dark cherry, spice, clove and grilled herb. This vintage is a real pleasure to drink straight out of the gate. Full and structured with dense and compact tannins that are ripe and well integrated into the wine. Freshened with a steady acidity that gives it crunchiness and highlights the red fruit. I like the texture and length of the wine. Drink or hold.
