Made with semi-dried grapes, like an Amarone, this fabulous vintage has a vibrant, concentrated colour with enticing aromas reminiscent of northern Italian wine, aromas of mulberry, wild cherry and elderberry, with espresso and a tiny hint of capsicum to remind you that it is in fact Carmenere. Mouthfilling and full-bodied, it has super-succulent, plushy tannins and an attractive hint of grilled red pepper. You would need to pay several times as much to find an Amarone of this quality!

Winemaking
Unbroken sunshine, high altitude and a constant, cool descending breeze from the Andes leads to wines with vivid character and freshness. To produce Carmenere with extra guts, a portion of the harvest undergoes 'appassimento' - semi-drying the grapes. Elqui Valley's low humidity and constant air movement creates ideal conditions for this technique.
