Brecon Gin is a crisp, clean spirit with a great complexity. Juniper wafts around in the background, always present but never loud. There’s a certain oiliness here, giving a really elaborate mouthfeel – definite Martini material.
Process
Brecon Botanicals Gin is made from a Welsh spirit base and given a triple dose of citrus in the form of bergamot, orange and lemon. An exotic mix of spices are also in the blend, with saffron and cinnamon on the roster.
People
Penderyn Distillery, the spiritual home of Brecon Gin, was created by a group of friends in the early noughties. Though their initial aim was to create “a Whisky as pure and precious as Welsh gold,” they soon heard the call of juniper.
Place
Penderyn Distillery, located on the southern tip of the Brecon Beacons, is a small team producing their malt barley spirit from scratch. With the most beautiful scenery surrounding them from all angles, their tour is well worth booking onto.
