Few wine regions have transformed the landscape of Italian wine as dramatically as Bolgheri. Once a quiet stretch of Tuscany's coast better known for agriculture than fine wine, the region rose to international prominence in the latter half of the 20th century through the pioneering vision of producers who challenged convention by planting Bordeaux varieties such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Cabernet Franc. Their success gave birth to the legendary "Super Tuscan" movement, establishing Bolgheri among the world's most prestigious wine regions. Caccia al Piano is deeply connected to this story. The estate's origins date back to 1868, when the property served as a hunting lodge—caccia meaning "hunt" in Italian—for local nobility. Today, the winery combines this rich heritage with a modern approach to viticulture and winemaking, cultivating vineyards in some of Bolgheri's most sought-after sites.
