Bolgheri Superiore
Caccia al Piano
Winemaking
Hand-harvested grapes from Bolgheri vineyards are carefully selected and gently destemmed. Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks with maceration on skins and gentle pump-overs. Aged in French oak barriques to refine tannins and add structure before bottle ageing and refinement.
Press Review
94/100 - The 2021 Caccia Al Piano Superiore pours a youthful matte purplish red hue and is shining brightly today while still holding onto plenty of primary ripe fruit. The nose offers cassis, black cherry, pencil lead, petrichor, and wild Mediterranean herbs, with hints of rosemary and dried flowers. It comes from higher-elevation parcels facing the sea, across from Sassicaia and Grattamacco. Full-bodied, it has a structured frame with refined tannins, balanced acidity, and a long finish. Drink 2026-2046.
Press Review
95/100 - Restrained cassis with clove and pure and youthful, estery fruit character, as well as lead pencil, a toasted aroma and light milk chocolate. Full-bodied with velvety, slightly dusty yet ripe tannins with crisp acidity and a long, blond-tobacco finish. Not fully drinkable now, it deserves time for better integration. There’s substance here for the long haul. Try from 2026.
