From the Tuscan district famous for Sassicaia comes the magnificent Bolgheri Superiore, Caccia al Piano. A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc, it is deep garnet in colour, and has extraordinarily focused and intense aromas of cedarwood, cinnamon, white pepper, mushroom stock and cream. The cedary, spicy fragrance continues on the palate, and is joined by black cherry coulis, liquorice and a hint of sundried banana. The tannins are super-suave, and a lovely, balancing acidity brings freshness. An absolutely amazing wine. Drink 2026-2036.

Winemaking
Hand-harvested grapes from Bolgheri vineyards are carefully selected and gently destemmed. Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks with maceration on skins and gentle pump-overs. Aged in French oak barriques to refine tannins and add structure before bottle ageing and refinement.

The nose offers cassis, black cherry, pencil lead, petrichor, and wild Mediterranean herbs, with hints of rosemary and dried flowers. It comes from higher-elevation parcels facing the sea, across from Sassicaia and Grattamacco. Full-bodied, it has a structured frame with refined tannins, balanced acidity, and a long finish.
