Rutherford Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon comes exclusively from the distinguished Rutherford Bench terroir, from hand-selected vineyard parcels under the ownership of Beaulieu Vineyard. It is matured for 21 months in 100% French oak barrels (80% first-fill). The wine expresses an exquisitely bright and vibrant fresh blackcurrant aroma, that could easily belong to a top Saint-Julien from a top vintage. Like its counterparts in Bordeaux, it also evokes nuances of summer vineyard footpath dust (the famous ‘Rutherford Dust’ note), juicy blackberries and woodland glade wild raspberries straight off the cane. On the palate, it has a rich, rounded, velvety nature, with fabulously decadent texture to the tannins, and everything is enlivened by vibrant fruit concentration and harmonious balance. This legendary wine could evolve in the cellar for decades, and yet is irresistibly delicious already. Crack on!

" Enticing aromas of black cherry, blueberry, black liquorice, coffee and dried herbs with cedar freshness. Broad and expansive palate with the same flavours as the nose, combining with a rich vein of minerals, dried rose petals, tobacco, refreshing acidity and mouthcoating tannins. From winemaker Trevor Durling. Drinking window: 2022-2040. "

" Rusty-nail aroma and a dusty, rusty fragrance fills the glass and glitters through the fruit like hematite. Beautiful fruit, cherry dark, glimmering with hedgerow-raspberry highlights, speckled with black pepper and wrapped in long, long silk ribbons of tannins. It's muscular and the backbone of structure is powerful, welded iron but somehow fluid – not a molecule of astringency, although the dustiness seems to give the wine a cocoa-powder texture. Towards the end, freshness starts to build, drawing into a long floral, inky finish. Despite its grandiose Napa character, you could fly on the cold-mountain energy of this wine. Drink 2024-2040 "
Winemaking
Grapes were hand-picked, destemmed, and cold soaked for gentle extraction. This nurtured an elegant, layered fruit profile and Rutherford Dust tannins. During fermentation, cap was pumped over for skin integration. Over 80% new French oak and a touch of Malbec/Petit Verdot added to balance fruit with toasty notes, enriching the flavor profile.
