Rutherford Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon
Beaulieu Vineyard
Winemaking
Grapes were hand-picked, destemmed, and cold soaked for gentle extraction. This nurtured an elegant, layered fruit profile and Rutherford Dust tannins. During fermentation, cap was pumped over for skin integration. Over 80% new French oak and a touch of Malbec/Petit Verdot added to balance fruit with toasty notes, enriching the flavor profile.
Press Review
94/100 - Enticing aromas of black cherry, blueberry, black liquorice, coffee and dried herbs with cedar freshness. Broad and expansive palate with the same flavours as the nose, combining with a rich vein of minerals, dried rose petals, tobacco, refreshing acidity and mouthcoating tannins. From winemaker Trevor Durling. Drinking window: 2022-2040.
Press Review
93/100 - Coming mostly from estate fruit, the 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Rutherford Reserve is another plush, rounded, undeniably delicious release. Ripe blue fruits, spicy oak, and hints of chocolate define the nose, and it' s medium to full-bodied, with a layered, round, incredibly satisfying mouthfeel. I like it now, but it should evolve gracefully for 10-15 years as well.
