People
The story of Angostura beings in 1824, when Dr. Siegert perfected his recipe for his aromatic bitters in the town of Angostura in Venezuela. When he died in 1870, his sons took over the business and moved it from Venezuela to Trinidad in 1875.
Place
After their move to Trinidad, Angostura developed a house style using bought in rum, but in the 1940s the company began to distil its own. They are now one of the big 4 producers on the island.
