Jean Trimbach says, "Pinot Gris is my Meursault," and it's not hard to see why, since this grape makes wines which are lavish and opulent in texture, yet held back by the Trimbach family's classic restraint. The Pinot Gris berry skins contain some pigment, meaning that this white wine is sometimes pink-tinged, especially in warmer vintages. It has subtle notes of melon, peach and lychee, a creamy, medium-bodied texture and a sustained finish. Also called Pinot Beurot, this historically formed part of Burgundy’s finest wines, however it proved better-suited to Alsace's dry climate, and now accounts for 17% of production. With fantastic length on the finish, this is delicious to drink now, as well as being capable of keeping.

Winemaking
The Reserve quality is from parcel selections of old vines around Ribeauvillé (around 35 years old) which produces a more complex wine destined for a longer laying down. After harvesting, the grapes are brought directly to the winery where they are fermented in stainless steel and bottled early without malolactic fermentation.
Press Review
16.5/20 - Smells like nut butter and browned ghee. Golden pears. Has rough-parchment texture. Cumin spices, almost caraway, rye bread, miso and something gently peachy sweet which fills the finish. A delicious, complex Pinot Gris. Drink 2023-2028
