Distinctive aromas of ripe plum, black pepper and liquorice, with a mouth-filling texture, and red berry and blackcurrant flavours. Subtle layering of blending varieties (a little Grenache or Mourvedre, depending on vintage) enhances the fruit and spice characteristics, which are rounded off with smooth, well-integrated tannins. The vines are grown in a major sheep-farming area, and 'skaapveld' means 'sheep field'. A perfect accompaniment for sizzling lamb chops sprinkled with fresh herbs.

Winemaking
Fermentation took place over 5 days in stainless steel tanks with regular pump-overs. Before the end of fermentation, the grapes were pressed and put back into tank for malolactic fermentation. Fined and filtered before bottling. 100% of the wine was matured in older American oak barrels. Barrel maturation of 12 months overall.
