This is extremely appetising already, with orange, honey and some savoury herbal notes to begin with; opening to reveal spicy resinous and floral scents, and classic maturing beeswax character. In the mouth, it's dry yet full-textured, and shows greengage, honey, orange and apricot flavours, before finishing with Champagne-like green apple character. Very long on the palate, but it's not yet giving all it has - this deserves keeping a bit to show its full potential.

From granite soil on the upper part of the Schlossberg Grand Cru The wine is not oak-aged, and is bottled early to preserve freshness, however, the wine is matured at Trimbach for several years, meaning that it can be enjoyed upon release or cellared for longer.

94/100 - The 2022 Riesling Grand Cru Schlossberg is open-hearted, fragrant, aromatic and very dense on the nose that is saline and concentrated. Rich and generous on the palate, this is a full-bodied, ripe and smooth, almost sweetish yet analytically dry Schlossberg that possibly lacks a bit of finesse and acidity due to the warm and dry vintage and the poor granite soils in the highest part of the very rocky Schlossberg. Drink 2025-2050.
