Legend has it that this extraordinarily sheltered, south-southeast facing site at the village of Turckheim acquired magical properties from the blood of a dragon that did battle with the sun here. The name 'Brand' means 'fire,' because of its remarkably sunny local climate and the fine-grained granite soil that warms up so readily in the sun. All this leads to Grand Cru wines with a generosity and approachability that is rare among other Alsace wines of this calibre - especially if they are made from Riesling. Trimbach's has pretty blossom and freshly-sliced cooking apple aromas and offers beautiful immediate drinking. This does not mean it will be a short-lived wine, however - enjoy its evolution over a decade or longer.

Winemaking
Our grapes are harvested at maturity then crushed and delicately pressed in a pneumatic press. Vinified in a dry style in stainless steel vats and old casks. No malotactic, or long ageing on lees in order to preserve freshness, liveliness and fruity aromas. Bottled in the spring following the harvests, then 3 years of ageing minimum in our cellar.

95+/100 - Trimbach's 2021 Riesling Grand Cru Brand opens with a clear and elegant, very seductive but coolish and refined bouquet of ripe fruits with finely flinty, weathered granite notes. Round and lush on the remarkably fine and elegant palate, with rather smooth acidity but also intense and persistent minerality and fine tannin structure for 2021, this is a quite open and charming 2021 ... that already tastes beautifully but can be kept for at least 25 years. Drink 2025-2055.
