A wonderful, golden Chardonnay, which was one of the first premium examples of this grape to be found outside Burgundy: the result of careful site analysis before the vines were planted, at Menfi and Maroccoli, in western Sicily. It has layers of ripe yellow peach, marzipan, acacia honey aromas, with peaty, toasted grain and creamy chestnut notes. It is subtly-oaked, to support texture and structure, without being overtly woody in taste. The fresh acidity provides a subtle counterfoil to the wine's gentle, rounded, enveloping nature.

Winemaking
Made from organically-farmed grapes from the Ulmo (250m elevation) and Maroccoli (415m) vineyards, it is fermented in 225 litre Allier oak barrels, where it spends 11 months on the lees, to develop texture and complexity.

The oak remains prominent, contributing to the opulent yet silky softness that has long distinguished Planeta Chardonnay. It also delivers ripe apricot, baked apple and toasted almond all wrapped in a creamy, medium- to full-bodied texture.
