Browsing for a gift bottle or two in a really good merchant's shop can be quite a lot of fun. First stop for me is [The Great Wine Co.] in Bath..... It's a deliciously old-fashioned emporium. Staff are really enthusiastic and expert but relaxed and good-humoured as well. The wines are the kind you don't find in supermarkets. Prices at every level are very competitive.

A choice of over 800 different bottles is on offer at our Bath shop. A selection of wines is always open for tasting, and enthusiastic and experienced staff (Alan, Tom and Graeme) encourage visitors to linger and browse whilst helping to find the perfect wine. The vast majority of the wineries whose wines we sell are imported by us, and represented in the UK by our wider business. In many cases we know the vineyard owners, winemakers or export managers personally. We hold wine tastings in the shop and will sometimes have the winemaker or winery owner present at the tasting.
In addition to wine we also stock over 400 premium spirits. These include over 100 gins, Cognacs from the major distilleries, whiskies from around the world and a large selection of rums, tequilas, vodkas and liqueurs. Our selection also includes a growing list of low and non-alcoholic spirits, mixers and a slection of beers including non-alcoholic and gluten free options.
