Expect cheeky notes of biscotti and cream soda on the nose. These are followed by a slight cardamom note vanilla and pepper to taste. Fantastic for daiquiris, mojitos and other refreshing cocktails.
Process
Platino ages for one year in American White Oak barrels that previously held Laws Colorado Whiskey and Montanya Oro. Before bottling, a pine-based lenticular filter removes all of the colour.
People
Founded by Karen Hoskin in 2008, Montanya Distillers caught the beginning of a movement toward premium, aged American rums. Today they are one of the stars of US craft distilling and known for their progressive nature and transparent approach.
Place
Montanya is a certified B Corp who have facilities totalling 5,800 square feet: the Distillery and Tasting Room is on Elk Avenue in downtown Crested Butte, Colorado, and the bottling facility and barrel house two miles outside of town.
