While the title points towards a certain bitterness, Luxardo Sour Cherry Gin contains huge, jammy sweetness and a cherry stone sweetness. It’s a gin of sublime quality, best dolloped into the bottom a glass of Prosecco.
Process
Luxardo make their Sour Cherry Gin by blending Marasca cherry juice with their classically styled London Dry (also available as a gin of its own).
People
Luxardo is an old name in the booze world, having been founded in 1821 by Girolamo Luxardo. With centuries old history and experience in making liqueurs, eau de vies and distillates - they have harnessed all their craft to make this gin.
Place
Luxardo is one of the oldest liqueur producers in Italy, with a huge collection of (mostly cherry based) products to its name. They were the original creators of bar favourite Maraschino Cherries, so there’s a lot to thank them for.
