Serve
Laphroaig Quarter Cask is best served neat or on the rocks.
Process
In the 19th century, quarter casks were used to transport whisky via mule or horse as the weight of traditional casks could not be carried by the animals.
People
The Laphroaig distillery was founded by farmers, Donald and Alexander Johnston, in 1815. They acquired land for cattle but quickly realised they could earn more making and selling whisky with the grains they grew, instead of feeding the cattle.
Place
Pronounced “La-froyg”, the distillery is named after its location which is located at the head of Loch Laphroaig on the south coast of Islay in Scotland.
