Landua Rioja
Aiurri
Winemaking
A field-blend composed mainly of Tempranillo, with small percentages of Graciano, Garnacha, white and unknown varieties. Fermented and elaborated by separate plot, with must moved entirely by gravity. Fermentations are spontaneous, extraction is gentle, and temperatures are controlled. Aged in French oak vats and concrete tanks.
Press Review
92/100 - Named after the Basque word for “made by hand,” the 2022 Landua comes from a mix of different nearby villages, all close to the mountains with influence from the Atlantic Ocean. Mostly Tempranillo, in the old-vine vineyards planted between 50 and 80 years ago there’s also Graciano, Garnacha, a few white varieties, and some unknown varieties that all go into the final bottle. Red fruit-forward, it is drinkable upon release, fermented in French oak foudres, with very soft, textured, and layered red fruit, graphite, a touch of herb, and an undeniably ethereal quality. It’s a pretty wine that should age well 10-12 years.
Press Review
93/100 - Pristine, high-quality cherries and berries with minerals and elegant spices. Firm, chiseled tannins. Fine-grained and pretty long with very good fruit definition. Drink or hold.
