Winemaking and aging take place in a central winery located on the hills of Batroun, in a bespoke gravity-fed and architect-designed facility surroundd by vines which opened in 2013. The IXSIR Winery has been crowned one of the greenest building in the world, and won the Architizer A+ Award for its sustainable design. Here, in this cathedral to wine, tradition and innovation meet, giving birth to unique and complex and contemporary vintages, just a stones' throww from the the ancient village of Basbina which shows evidence of winemaking and viticulture dating to the very dawn of civilization.

IXSIR wines are handcrafted and carefully made - blends which encapsulate the stylish variety of Lebanon's winemaking heritage. The range includes the Altitudes series which empasises the high altitude viticulture of the region and indiginous grape blends, as well as the elegant and expansive Grande Reserve range and tête de cuvée El Ixir - rich syrah from high-altitude plots in Hadath Baalbek (1,180m elevation), Yammouneh (1,375m) and Ainata (1,800m) which is extensively aged in French Oak.

Sustainability is a cornerstone of the IXSIR philosophy, working in harmony with the land and communities to produce superby-elegant and sustainable vintages. IXSIR's unique gravity-fed winery reduces energy use across the fermentation process using up to 75% less energy than traditional wineries. In addition, the roof of the winery is planted to a botanical gardn which provides natural cooling to the winery in the hot summer months. This planted roof garden - the larest of its kind in Lebanon - also provides a haven for biodiverity. IXSIR's efforts in sustainable winemaking have earned plaudits across the globe with the IXSIR winery named by CNN as one of the greenest buildings in the world.
