Every bit as impressive as seriously swanky white Burgundy, this has a peach, pear, pineapple and papaya personality, with complex hints of creamy lees, toasty barrel and gunflint. On the palate, it has plenty of flavour concentration and complexity, with richness of texture and bright, balancing acidity. This can be enjoyed now and over the next seven years at least - maybe longer. Kudos to Knipser for giving Pinot Blanc (Weissburgunder) the chance to shine in a Grand Cru (Grosses Gewächs) vineyard site.

Winemaking
Sheltered from inclement weather by the Orlenberg hill, the Kirschgarten 'Grand Cru' has loess soil overylying water-retentive limestone rock, allowing the vines to bask in the sunshine without suffering from drought. This is a top site for Pinots - both Noir and Blanc - and this wine reflects great white Burgundy in both style and quality.
