Key Flavours
Serve
Big sherry cask notes form the back bone of Glenmorangie 18yo Single Malt - a dram that's lovely neat but that also works well in an Old Fashioned.
Process
The spirit is matured in American white oak casks for 15 years, then roughly 30% is transferred into Spanish Oloroso casks to spend a further three years maturing. When both elements have reached 18 years, they’re blended together to create a whisky.
People
In 1738 a brewery was built on Morangie Farm in the Scottish Highlands. A century later the land was bought by William Matheson who purchased two second hand stills and converted the brewery into a distillery and renamed the site Glenmorangie.
Place
Glenmorangie means ‘valley of tranquillity’ in Scots Gaelic. The distillery is located in a peaceful setting on a quiet hillside glen, calmly nestled on the banks of the Dornoch Firth in the Highlands region of Scotland, where it has been since 1843.
